Performances: The number of times a work is performed is significant. Distinct from the premiere performance, subsequent performances help to shape and expand the work. In addition, performing takes on special significance with respect to teaching. It is in these experiences that students witness and contribute to the evolution of a choreograph work. The rehearsal studio and the stage become, in essence, a laboratory where learning takes place.
